Masseter Reduction West Bridgford

Jawline Reduction in Nottingham

Slim your jawline by relaxing the muscles in your lower jaw with targeted Botox injections at Pro Aesthetics in Nottingham.

This treatment is perfect for those who feel their jawline is too square, bulky, or wide. We place small injections of Botox in the masseter muscles to prohibit them from clenching and tensing, reducing their activity and therefore size. The result is a slimmer-looking jawline that will gradually wear off over time.

This treatment can also be used to treat bruxism and the headaches caused by this condition.

Jawline Slimming with Botox

How Does Masseter
Reduction Work?

Botulinum toxin is introduced into the masseter muscle, which is the lower jawline muscle best known for chewing and biting. For example, if you were to clench your teeth, you could feel this muscle with your fingertips just above the corner of your jaw.

By placing Botox injections into this muscle, we are able to stop it from contracting as actively and with repeated treatment over time, less bulky. This treatment is different to jawline fillers, which mostly help to add structure and angles rather than slim and contour.

Beginning Your Journey

1. Your
Consultation

At your consultation, we will listen to your concerns and assess your jawline. We will ask any necessary questions regarding your personal and medical history, and then allow a 2-week cooling off period for you to decide on your treatment.

Your Jawline Treatment Begins

2. Your
Treatment

We will cleanse the treatment areas on your jaw, ask you to clench and exercise your jaw so we may feel the muscle movement beneath, and place small indicators where we wish to inject. The injecting treatment itself will take only 15 minutes or so.

Correct Aftercare & Recovery

3. Aftercare

After your treatment, you may feel discomfort in the treated area and you may see small bruises at the injection sites. Please don’t rub or apply pressure to the injection sites; you can cool these with a cool compress.

FAQs

  • No, these are two different treatments that use two different solutions, but they can be combined for a full holistic jawline contouring treatment.

Jawline slimming uses Botox and works to relax the muscle beneath the skin, stopping it from contracting and therefore reducing the overall size of the jawline. This gives a slimming effect and also helps to treat jawline clenching and bruxism.

Jawline filler instead introduces dermal filler into the skin, or the tissue, to add more definition and structure. These use dermal fillers made of hyaluronic acid.

  • Bruxism is a condition that sees you involuntarily clenching your jaw and/or grinding your teeth. This commonly happens when you are sleeping, though it does happen during the day absentmindedly. Bruxism can cause wear on your teeth, tooth and jaw ache, and headaches in your temples. By using Botox in the jaw muscle, your jaw is prohibited from clenching as strongly as therefore reduces your symptoms. It is not a cure, but a way to successfully manage this. This treatment is one of lesser known uses of the versatile medical toxin.

  • Your results could last up to 4-6 months, and sometimes possibly longer, depending on the client. They will slowly fade over time as the treatment wears off, and this is where you may consider repeat appointments to maintain them.

  • Botox treatments can take around 2 weeks to settle in and become visible, though you could see them developing around 2-3 days after treatment. This depends on the patient, as everybody is different, but before the end of the 2 weeks you should see your results.

  • No, Botox in your jaw and masseter muscles will not stop you from chewing, eating, speaking, singing, or yawning! You can still move your jaw, though not to the extent you previously could with regards to clenching. Think of this similar to Botox in your frown lines – you can still move your eyebrows, but you cannot frown. Therefore, you can still use your jaw, just not clench.
